This site is about a guy on his journey to shape and discover his destiny and hopefully extend beyond himself and be able to make a difference. You can visit my old university page here.
Sometimes, the inspired part of me throws out some stuff I feel like sharing. That part is still pretty tiny, but hopefully it grows up with time. So this is a place where I may occasionally contribute some useful and not so useful reflectionscoming out of that part of me. Read it and leave comments if you care to agree, disagree or got some more stuff to add.
I also put interesting and useful synopsis of stuff I come across sometimes.
Neointellectual: Not to be confused with neo-cons, a neointellectual is one who constantly pushes the limits of learning and its application. Does not get bogged down by dogma and assumptions but keeps an open mind towards ideas and people.
Background:
By way of introduction, I have been mostly affiliated with Computers in way or the other. I started early at the age of 11, displaying some of creations in CS conferences and then moving into some exciting software contests at the regional, national and the international level. Some of my experience there is listed in my resume. It helped me immensely, both in terms of learning and in where I am in terms of career too. I probably won’t be getting the opportunities that I have experienced without all that. Continuing my passion for the field, I went on to earn my undergraduate and eventually my PhD in the field.
I graduated with a doctorate in March 2008, after 5+ years of navigating the maze (a very introspective experience as well!) But it was a happy ending and a memorable journey for me as well. I got to experience some awesome places like Google and Intel Research. The culture I experienced, people I met there, and the stuff I learnt, will always be a significant portion of my school-time memories.
Present:
Last phase of my PhD was quite an adventure. I was almost quite sure where I was going (one of the places I mentioned above). Then something happened…and I suddenly caught a fancy for the field of finance. Some of things I had heard intrigued me and possibility to combine my background, with a whole new world of learning and application excited me. And for some inexplicable reasons, I got the opportunity to visit some awesome places to work in New York. I am now happily involved at D.E. Shaw and Co. now, a quantitative hedge fund in Manhattan.
